Criteria for designation of trainer status (including new faculty applicants and advancement of affiliate faculty) and for continuation of trainer status for existing trainers:
- Research focus in microbial pathogenesis & host responses.
- Commitment to predoctoral training as shown by the record of past and current students.
- Ability to provide adequate resources and training environment as indicated upon review of an NIH-style biosketch and documentation of research funding support.
- Evidence of and/or commitment to participation in training program activities such as course teaching, Steering Committee service, co-mentoring on trainee thesis committees, attendance at MPHRG events, MMI 900 Journal Club meetings, etc.
Applications for trainer status should be sent to MPath director Jon Woods (jpwoods@wisc.edu, 420 SMI) and should include the following components:
- Statement of research interests (1-2 pages).
- Record of past and current predoctoral graduate student and postdoctoral fellow training experience.
- NIH-style biosketch including record of recent and current research funding support.
- Cover letter indicating past participation or future interest in program activities as specified above.
Promising junior faculty may be granted affiliate status, primed for trainer status upon development of funding and training experience.
